WHO MADE GOD?
I appreciate the question posed by a 7 year
old girl and uncle Mr.Lewis. I will try my best to reply in
a brief manner.
Every religion has its own God or Gods. Without
any God(s), no religion exists. Because Human realises his
weakness and limitness, so he somehow tries to satisfy the
God(s) (self-carved supreme power) and manage to acquire some
help from Him.
But, Islam's concept of God is entirely different
from the self-made concepts of God.
Before we come to the actual question i.e.
'Who made God?' it is necessary to know 'Who is God(Allah)?'
or 'What is God(Allah)?'
Islam explains God(Allah) as an entity and
not as an identity.
The simple and everlasting definition for
God is "God was since always and will be for always;
No one created God, but God created everyone and everything;
God is not dependent on others, but others are dependent on
God."
How do we derive that everything is created
by God? When we look at the grand universe and observe it
carefully, we find that each and everything is in harmony.
Everything is created with perfection. There is a balance
in the universe. There is no error or mistake or defect in
creation.
Consider, the sun, it follows its path chosen
by God, it never moves away. The Sun always rises from the
East and sets into the West. This is the system chosen for
the sun. And as the sun goes down, we have the moon to give
reflected light. What a great balance?
Can human make this? Any sane person can conclude
"Err is to Human", which means Human is bound to
commit error. He needs practice to learn something or gain
expertise in. So, it can easily be concluded Human cannot
be creator.
What does Science say? Modern science accepts
the fact that it only studies about the creation. Science
does not create things. For Example: Science studies the Law
of Gravity, it did not create this law.
As earlier mentioned that We are dependent
on God; is easily concluded by understanding the very fact
that we, Humans are dependent on the law of gravity. We need
this law for a peaceful life. If this law vanishes, it will
be hell of a problem. If we observe our environment, we find
that there is law attached to each and every action. And to
do anything we are dependent on that law. We just cannot skip
any law. Ask your mother, is it possible to skip any steps
when making tea. If she does then she will not be able to
make tea. She is bound add sugar, milk, tea-leaves etc. We
have to go through the process created by God. We all are
bounded by Laws of the God. If we, ourselves are forced to
be bound by these laws, it means we(humans) have not created
these laws.
Can creation come into existence by mere chance?
As Science concludes that it studies about the creation, then
this means that there must be a Creator behind a creation.
It is just not possible that there exists creation and creator
does not exist! For example: Whenever we see a painting, we
can say that is made by a painter. No painting can come to
existence just by chance! In the same manner, whenever we
see creation, we can logically say that it is made by the
Creator. And who is the perfect creator - God.
Now, coming to your question. Everything has
a creator, then Who created God? or Who made God? or What
is God made of?
Such questions arise due to improper explanation
of God. Every religion explains its God(s) or Godess.
Near about all creations are materialistic
i.e. It is based on the 'Philosophy of Materialism' which
means things are made by matter. For a lot of time, mankind
was struggling to know how earth came into existence or who
created earth. Science knew that earth was made of matter,
thus anything created by matter must have a Creator or Source
of Origin. Until recently, Big Bang Theory has explained that
earth and other planets were formed with a bang in the dense
clouds (Primary Nebula).
Materialistic Creations' source of origin
or Creator could be absolutely located or identified because
of the 5 senses of humans. It is the blessing of 5 senses
which help the materialistic creations to be construed. God
is not materialistic i.e. God is not made up of matter.
For example: 'Human Spirit' or 'Human Self'
is a creation which is not in materialistic form. Human Spirit
is in a form beyond human perception. Thus, it cannot be explained
within the limits of 5 senses. We need more senses.
At this stage we can conclude the following
points: 1. God can be explained as an entity, and God is not
in physical form. 2. God is the Creator. 3. God is not made
up of matter.
To understand 'Who made God?' this question should be in its
proper form.
The exact query now comes out in its true
form 'Who is the Creator of Creator(God)?' The question itself
answers the query.
Let us assume The God(as Creator A), and the
Creator of God(as Creator B). We are trying to find out the
Who is (Creator B?). As the very moment 'Creator B' starts
playing a role then The God(who is the Creator) will become
a Creation. How is it possible that The Creator(God), itself
becomes a Creation??? This is not possible! Now, we realize
that the question Creator of The Creator(God), is null and
void. This question arises due to self-made concepts of God.
For Example: A person who creates a painting
becomes a painter. Painter - is the creator and Painting -
is the creation. Now, if someone asks me Who is the Painter
of Painter? The question itself is void, because a Painter
is one who creates a painting. A painter does not create a
painter, but creates painting. In the same manner, The Creator
is one who creates Creation. A Creator does not create another
Creator, but creates creation. In now way, the Creator can
become a Creation.
His Attributes as mentioned in the Quran.
To believe in God(Allah) would, therefore, mean to acknowledge
and accept His Sovereignty with all His Attributes, as mentioned
in the Quran, in the most balanced and proportionate manner
(17/110).
Comprehending Human-made Gods, give a rise
to such thoughts. But, in the light of Quran, if we understand
God(Allah), we will clear all such doubts. The Holy Quran
mentions the Attributes of Allah(God), if anyone reads and
understands those attributes, he/she will have a clear-cut
concept of God, and finally will make him proclaim: "La
illaha illAllah" "There prevails no one's sovereignity
except Allah's"
We hope, we were able to satisfy your doubt.
We are currently pursuing our graduation from Lucknow University,
India. We also had numerous doubts, and were seeking the truth.
Idara Tolu-e-islam and the great work of G.A.Parvez help me
find the truth. The Institution's members replied to each
and every query of ours. If, today we are able to help the
truth seekers in any manner, we will feel our efforts are
rewarded.
