da'wah

How to do "Da'wah": spread Islam over the world.

Introduction:

Before going into details of da'wah, let's first view some statistics about the world population and the percentage of muslims.

According to statistics of 2006, the world population is estimated to be 6.5 billion people. And, do you know how many muslims live around the world? The world Muslim population is around 1.5 billion people. So, nearly one in five people in the world today claim the faith of Islam.

What about the 5 billion people? These people may have not heard about islam or may have heard misleading concepts about it. They need to know the truth about islam, but who will take the initiative and talk to them about islam?

Da'wah:

People need us to guide them or at least introduce them to the basics of our religion.

Some people will agree with me and affirm that it is our role to show them the right way while some others won't. Some may say "well, it is not our responsibility to tell people about Islam. This should be done by scholars and professors of religious studies, not us".

Some other people may say "we want to help others understand the meaning of Islam, but we don't have enough knowledge to teach it. And we are afraid to say something wrong about religion and end up misleading others."

I respect these two points of view mentioned above. But, I think that calling people to Islam should not be done only by scholars. It can be performed by any average muslim even though this latter lacks of Islamic knowledge.

It is not only a choice but it is a duty to deliver the message of Allah. It is the duty of every Muslim to explain what is Islam and to invite people to learn about Islam. Everyone of us, member of the ummah, has to bear witness to the truth before all mankind as Allah says in the Qur'an:

"And thus have We willed you to be a community of the middle way, so that (with your lives) you might bear witness to the truth before all mankind, and that the Apostle might bear witness to it before you" Surah 2: 143

God declares in this verse that one of the duties of every muslim is "da3wah", which is to send Allah's message to people and tell them about Islam.

To believe is a grace of Allah and 'we cannot guide aright everyone whom we love' and we must be aware of our limited role. However our role remains of a great importance and we will be called to account by Allah as to the way we bear and transmit the message of Islam to the community.

Everyone is a da'iya and should be a light for the people around him. A light is altogether a question and its answer: by reminding people of Allah he/she shows how He should be loved and served.

How ?

Nowadays, thanks to the development of communication (especially the eas access to the internet), it has never been easier to talk to people about Islam than today. Muslim can perform the "da'wa" and talk about religion by creating Islamic websites or by leading discussions in forums.

So, can you, muslim brothers or sisters, help people find the right path to God? Can u spend few minutes each day and think of creative ways to attract people online (having access to the internet) to Islam? Can you reserve some time to answer their questions about the religion?
